This is my web page where I can share my opinions with the world. Yes I can be opinionated at times, and yes I'll write about things that will make you say "Do I really care?" And most definitely yes, much
of this page is vanity. There is probably even a tone where I presume that my opinion and tastes are important to you. Who knows?
This web page is an experiment.
It's something I'm motivated to do. I want to try and see what happens when I write what I write. Do people care? Do people make fun of me? Do people agree with me? I don't know.
Here's a list of things that I use that I would recommend.
- TiVo: Once you start using a TiVo, you wonder how you got along without one. You don't have to worry if you put the VCR timer on or if you
have enough tape. Plus you can start watching a show, a little bit late (no more waiting until the show is over before you start watching it).

- Palm: Any Palm will do. As a contact list alone, it's been well worth it. But I keep lists of DVDs, movies, and books that I want to buy or see. Since I'm always on the computer, it is REALLY useful
to sync the data on my Palm to my computer. Some like the small, sexy Palm V (though expensive). The Palm IIIs are more practical. I personally have a Palm IIIc and Palm VII.
I got the Palm IIIc because I wanted to write a Palm application that took advantage of the color and I have the Palm VII when I wanted to investigate the
wireless technology. I must admit there are times when the Palm VII proves its worth. I have yet to really investigate the HandSpring Visor (I guess I'll just have
to come up with an excuse to get one. Click here for more info.
- DirecTV: Again, only if you watch TV, is this useful. It's also much more appealing if you enjoy watching sports, as you can get the 'season pass' to
any sport. The picture quality is much better than cable or digital cable. I'll even admit that I got the dish so I could get HBO, just so I could watch
Sex and the City. Click here for more info.
- Fantasy Sports: As a kid, I actually ran a fantasy baseball league by hand. Let me tell you that it was a pain in the butt. The web has made fantasy sports
so much more appealing. There are live drafts, trades, free agency, and much more. I'm in a group of online friends who constantly have leagues in all sports.

Cirque du Soleil

I believe the 'technical' description of Cirque du Soleil is a French-Canadien circus (though literally Cirque du Soleil means Circus of the Sun). Many people are turned off by this, since
they're thinking elephants, lions, and clowns. Well Cirque du Soleil does have clowns, but no animals. It's an amazing, divine combination of music,
performance, and unbelievable acts of human athleticism. Your jaw will drop constantly as they continue to perform acts that build on top of each other.
To attend Cirque du Soleil, you either have to catch one of their travelling shows (there's a new travelling show every two years) or visit one of
their Resident Show. The two most 'famous' Resident Shows play in Las Vegas. I haven't seen them, but I hear they are amazing as well. A friend told me that
it was worth flying all the way to Hong Kong to see a show. If there's a travelling show anywhere near me, I will be going.
A few notes for Cirque newbies:
- Get to Cirque early, the clowns perform for the audience while everybody is arriving.
- In general, there are no bad seats for Cirque EXCEPT for those that have one of the four supports in the way. Here's an example of the seating. 'Cat 2' and 'Cat 3' on the map aren't that bad, though anywhere in 'Cat. 1' is fine. It's my opinion that you don't actually want to sit in the first 5 rows, you're too close.
- The first Cirque show will probably be your favorite because of the newness and wow factor. I had a debate with a friend who has also seen many Cirque shows about which show was the best. We realized that we both liked the first show we saw the best. My personal ranking of Cirque shows I've seen:
- 1. Alegria (my first show and I had a great date)
- 2. Saltimbanco
- 2b. Dralion (just slightly after Saltimbanco)
- 4. Quidam
